About Me

Local governance is my expertise. Urbanism and the day-to-day concerns that directly impact taxpayers on a community level are my true passion. I have delved into various areas such as housing, transportation, community well-being, and the arts.

Since graduating from Toronto Metropolitan University, formerly known as Ryerson, I have focused my journalistic endeavors in the 905 region. It is an area that often receives less attention, despite the fact that issues within municipalities like Brampton, Mississauga, and Oakville can have implications across the entire province.

My journey began in Brampton during the 2018 municipal elections. At that time, I was hired as a novice reporter for The Pointer. During my tenure, I covered Brampton city council, Region of Peel council, Oakville and Halton Hills town councils, school boards, and both federal and provincial politics. The knowledge and experience I gained there propelled me to the Oakville Beaver and HaltonHillsToday.

I have also conducted independent investigations, unearthing significant stories. These include delving into a devastating electrical surge on Halton Hills Hydro’s infrastructure that affected 3,800 homes, shedding light on a member of provincial parliament’s legal troubles, and uncovering an illicit nightclub in Halton Hills.

Oh, and I must mention that I possess a talent for feature writing. One of my most cherished pieces was recounting the extraordinary life of a local Georgetown hermit named George Chaplin, affectionately known as the Chicken Man. Historical features hold a special place in my heart, and recently, I delved deep into the history of a Georgetown Park, which once served as a farm where over a hundred Armenian refugees received education in the 1920s.

During my three-month stay in Barcelona, I managed to grasp some basic Spanish. Additionally, I am fluent in Urdu, Hindi, and Punjabi, reflecting my Pakistani background.
